Blog crowds out website search ranking

I have recently begun to think that my blog is hurting the Google search results for my website. If the blog ranks number one for a keyword, the website doesn't show up anywhere in the first few pages of a Google search. If the website is number one, you won't see the blog. The blog and website results were shown together until recently. Have you noticed this phenomenon?

xolaf - Welcome to WebmasterWorld.

It sounds like your blog and website are on different domains. Is this they case?

If they're separate...

Are they interlinked? Are they hosted together (on the same webserver) or separately? Do they share common inbound link sources, or do they get at least most of their inbound links from separate sources?

The website is separate. The site dominates its category and has lots of inbound links. The blog has few inbound links and is loaded with links to the website on every post.
