Forum Moderators: Robert Charlton & goodroi
I have a website which is mainly made up of a SMF forum.
Google has crawled the site a lot and I have a list of keywords listed in webmaster tools.
But, the majority of keywords listed are just related to the actual forum software and not the content.
So, is there a way to ask google to ignore certain words when it crawls your website?
The words Im thinking of are "post, topic, register, guest, chat" etc etc.
Thanks for any advice you can give.
I should point out that the forum is less than 2 months old and isnt crammed with content yet - perhaps googles crawl would change when I have more content? Problem with that of course is that people need to see the site to know its there.

I think you've answered your own question. Yes, you need more content to overcome the predominance of empty page templates.
New directories and forums with empty categories are particularly problematic. You want to suggest a potential scope to your users, but not have the empty categories predominate (either for users or for search engines).
One approach might be to cut down on blank subcategories initially, and then divide them up as you reach a critical mass of content.
If it's possible to customize the templates to reduce unnecessary boilerplate, that would be helpful in any event. You want to have as little superfluous text content as possible, even when there is content on the pages.
