Google's page 2 becoming more valuable?

The thought went through my mind that Google's cluttering of page 1 results with directories , You Tube , Wiki's etc etc and whatever else that will occur in the future will push users more onto the 2nd page for organic results.

This might be good for Google in doubling it's real estate assets.

Should webmasters have a strategy for this ?

I have had a few keywords move up in the SERPS over the last few weeks, and traffic for those has increased. A few have moved down and traffic has dropped.

Signor_john: I agree the SERPS are better. I do not think that plaigarism of Wikipedia is an excuse for plaigarism on Wikipedia - two wrongs do not make a right, as my mother used to tell me. Incidentally, are you sure about there being useful content on ZD Net :)

I have one of ZDnet's forums permanently in my browser, updated a couple of times a day. It tells me lots about the latest exploits, hacks etc. Very useful. I suppose it depends on what you want and which section of the site you're looking at. :)

Page one....Page two...who needs them. I like to land on page 10 where its quiet and I can get some sleep. Who needs to be woke all night by clicking mouses.

I particularly despite all other results than old organic. If I want a video I search for or go to youtube. If I want a map I go to google maps. The map is even worst because is tall. I miss the clear aspect with some adwords ads at right only.

I think Google should have some function that allow user to personlize SERPs with news , with Video or with local business.

I think Google should have some function that allow user to personlize SERPs with news , with Video or with local business.

That could be a nice feature, but I'd imagine that "universal search" would still be the default, because most users wouldn't take the time to set their personal preferences (assuming that they knew they could set personal preferences).

I think it's the long list of google local listings that really gets in the way and makes you lose focus on anything below it. I do think that will cause people to take a harder look at page 2, which doesn't have that box of listings right in the middle.
