SEO for very similar widgets, duplicate issues?

We are preparing a site for a niche in our industry and when I think about it: all products are very similar.

The only thing I can think about for the title and meta description of each page is "blue widget with rings", "green widget with rings"...

The content on the page can be different, but really, these are all widgets with rings, each needs their own page, and it makes a difference for the buyer.

I am worried about duplicate page titles, will Google see this as some type of spam?

This kind of challenge does come up. If you are certain that each variation definitely needs its own page, then make sure that the differentiators are present in the title and description and don't worry about it too much.

If the "blue widgets with rings" page doesn't show up on a search for "green widgets with rings" there's nothing lost - each page only needs to show up for a targeted search. You might want to have a higher level "widgets with rings" category page to help with the more generic search terms.

There's no way this kind of challenge gets considered as spam - it would take a lot more than that, IMO.
