Has anyone else with a .ca domain taken a hit in the US serps in the last 2 or 3 weeks?

I am thinking that they finally are pushing down the .ca's that were ranking well in the US Serps and therefore cranked up the geo-targeting. We knew this was coming someday and have prepared for it but would be interested in hearing the opinions of other .ca owners. Or, if you normally see a .ca in your US serps and have noticed them missing.

Are you talking about google.com searches done from a US location here? What kind of a hit have your rankings taken?

Yes, when I search Google.com our .ca domain has taken a serious hit for some competitive keywords. Keywords that we have ranked as high as #1 over the last 8 years. Now we are down in the 20's or 30's.

To view the US serps from Canada I add &gl=us to the string. Also webmaster tools is showing that we are ranking lower as well in the US.

Strangely, we still rank very highly for the long tail keywords ... which is really were the money is coming from.

I think they may have cranked up the geo-targeting for the US results and knocked down all the other country specific tld's.

Luckily, we have a back up plan for the geo-targeting because I knew this day would come.
