News feed - my site or an external one?

I'm going to start a news feed, and was wondering - in terms of driving traffic to various pages on my site - would I be better off putting the news feed on a new page on my own site (it would have links to relevant internal pages on my site as the news items warrant)?

Or should I get a page on one of the blogging sites (blogger, etc) and put it there, with links to my internal pages, again as the news items warrant?

Anyone with any experience in this - greatly appreciated!

I assume this news feed is something you want Google News to index? Or is it just for regular search?

Actually I'm trying to drive more traffic to the rest of my site. The copy on the pages of my site doesn't need to be changed very often. I do add new pages, but once they're there, they pretty much say all that needs to be said.

My hope was that a news page with more frequently updated content might improve traffic to the rest of the site.

I'm not sure how your question relates to Google Search. Will this news be original stories that you research and write? Are you looking to get search traffic for that content?

If that's the case, I think it would be easier to get the content to rank on your established domain. You would have the added advantage that new visitors would already be on your website, in your templatte and seeing what the site offers.

Thanks tedster - that's what I was hoping for. I just wanted to make sure it wouldnt be better to put it on an established blog site instead.

I'd just say be sure to set it up with a blog-like CMS, so that you ping Google whenever you post news ( see [blogsearch.google.com...] ) That's one advantage that an established blogging platform has built in.
