What are "According to" results in Google?

I've been noticing a huge spike in Google traffic to my site. From Analytics I learned what the search term was. There at the top of page 1 is a link to my site, but it is not a regular result listing. Instead, the link to my site is above the regular ten results. The format of the result does not include a description snippet, but instead it has the words "According to" in front of the small green bottom link.

I have hundreds of similar pages but none of the others show up in this format. Any ideas why Google would put me at #1 for this term and not others for which I have a similar page?

This gets reported from time to time. As you noticed, this kind of result is not one of the "regular top ten".

I believe it involves whether your pages are cited by a Google Scholar or Google Knol page. But I'm not sure of my memory on this, and a good bit of research on the topic today has brought me precious little. Maybe someone else has some certainty - or ideally an authoritative reference on these "according to" results.
