Does increasing the crawl rate of Google Spiders under Google Webmaster Tool have any effect on SEO? Would you recommend setting the crawl rate to its maximum for a fairly new website?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

It's not going to help a page rank better than it would anyway, once indexed. If you're trying to compete on searches where freshness is a factor, then getting into the index a bit quicker might give you an thin edge.

Got it. Thanks Tedster. I thought that was the case. So for a forum website I should definately increase the rate.
