Drop in backlinks from link tool

Hi All

I am facing an issue with a particular website, The backlinks to the site from the link option in the Google browser has suddenly dropped from 900 to 600. The site has about 149000 backlinks if checked through Yahoo Site Explorer adn about 94000 through Google Webmaster.

The client uses the link option through for a benchmark.

Hello zkatt99, and welcome to the forums.

Google's link: operator only shows a sample of backlinks - and that sample changes and shifts over time. Google does offer a much larger sample of backlinks (but it's still not complete) from a Webmaster Tools account. The publicly availablr link data is intentionally limited.
