Hello everyone,

A few months ago my site's index page was dropped for a few major keywords and I noticed that there were a bunch of Url not found errors in google webmaster tools. Obviously I thought those were the reason why google penalized my site.

So I fixed that problem and improved the user experience. On top of that I have created a few articles, adding new pages, new links, new directory submissions regularly and created mini structured directories instead of "partners" pages. But my index page was keep dropping and dropping slowly.

Then I checked this site:example.com. In this case example is my site of cause as you already known.

Interestingly, my index page can be found in third or fourth page of the Google results (almost last) while other pages are listed above.

I think this is definitely something wrong and perhaps it may be the answer why my home page is keep dropping.

Please help. Many thanks in advance.

When the home page is not at the top of a site: operator query, it can often mean there's some kind of major problem. Is your home page indexed as just the domain root (www.example.com) or does it include a further file path?

Hi thanks for the reply.

It is simply (www.example.com) no further file path. I should mention that it used to have more then one though.

www.example.com
www.example.com\index.htm
http:\\example.com

A long time ago I fixed it with 301 redirects so now it only has one which is www.example.com

Any advise?
Thanks
