Google PageRank Changes - April 1, 2009

My site is showing PR 0 (previous sandbox PR) and flickering PR 3? Anybody know if the PR has been indeed updated? This does not seem to act like ghost PR.

Are you positive? I'm checking another site that was in the sandbox and it's flashing in between PR 2 and its previous 0. Looks like only some of their servers are showing the change. This only started occurring earlier today.

EDIT: Running a PR check on multiple servers shows my site's updated PR in about 25% of the servers. Looks legit!

I see mine flickering between a 1 and a 2 as well. wouldn't it be a nice April Fools to just give us all an inverse PR for the day.

A site of mine has moved from PR3 to a 4 today.
Had been expecting this move as WMT had been showing some pages to have a medium Page Rank (which I took to be atleast a 4)

A WebmasterWorld thread from early May is showing a PR5 on some datacenters, so it does look like a legitimate update is spreading slowly across datacenters.

I was about to post about it. Yeah, I also caught one new website today flickering from PR0 to PR2.

P.S. On my websites, only the PR0s are "flickering". My long-established ones remain solid so far. Still good stuff, though :)

It's an unusual update. I've been frustrated by lots of internal pages on a couple of my sites that got gray-barred for no discernable reason for a very long time now. Some are full-content pages and some are menu/navigation pages, and I've spotted a couple of them that now have a reasonable PageRank showing. I haven't noticed any traffic changes recently, but I'll be watching more closely now.

I just checked and a page of mine is ranking #1 out of 24M (a technical phrase, not really competitive) but it's still showing grey bar on the toolbar.

Other pages in that same subdirectory (which is the only one showing TBPR on that site) that do show PR are nowhere to be found.

I suspect that there's a limit to how many pages actually show TBPR compared to the number of pages that actually do have PR (internally).

My site is flickering between 4 and 5 when I refresh Mozilla. Not the same with IE however, it seems to be staying at 5. Long live IE :)

Looks like my main site retained its PR, despite having suffered from a penalty for the most of january and february. Seems G still trusts me despite my less-then exemplary conduct before. *whew*

Yup..My site PR is updated from 0 to 4. Inner page doesn't have much PR though, most remain 0 and little have PR 1.

Are any of you folks seeing changes checking interior pages, or just homepages?

Interior pages are definitely changed as well Marcia. My site was in the sandbox and now shows PR site wide.

Still not fully propogated to all dc's but yes, definitely, update going on, and yes, I see it on inner pages as well as home pages.

For one of my sites, it changed from 0 to 4 as i had implemented a redirect from PR 3 sub domain to this domain a week ago.
Though I am really surprised that G picked it up in a week's time itself as I have never seen such a quick response after implementing a redirect.

bought links further devalued! on some domains they show in the backlinks but do not pass PR to the destination! the question remains: is it just PR display or taking effect on ranking also?

PR dropped from 4 to 3 on some sites that have been 4 for years.

Interestingly I added a blog to my personal site two weeks ago and that has already been cached and has a PR3. I wasn't expecting that so soon...

Does the PR of a website have any influence on:

rankings?
crawling rate?
deep crawl rate?

I can imagien PR having some influence on the price a link on a page can be sold for - other then that I don't see it having much affect on the actual rankings?

One of my sites went from a PR4 to nothing, but is still indexed and ranking. The same apparently happened to AddThis, which used to have a PR9 and now has nothing. It's probably too soon to start drawing conclusions, though, as the update may require some more time to propagate fully and properly.
