Hello,

I just switched my hosting to a different country ( actually the usa ). I was in Switzerland before and I use to rank in Europe on 2 keywords terms and no I don't rank in europe for those 2 keyword terms anymore ( and not yet in the usa ? ) is it normal ?

However I still rank for 3 keyword terms in the usa and Europe.

How long is it going to take for me to rank on those 2 keywords terms again but this time in the usa ? is it 8 months or 3 weeks to a month should do it ?

Thank you,

rainborick

You are seeing the effects of a change in the geo-location of your site. Google relies largely on two criteria to determine the geo-location of a website: (1) the presence of a Country Code Top Level Domain ('ccTLD', as in "somesite.co.uk'), or (2) for generic TLDs (.com, .net. .org, .info, etc.), it relies on the physical location of the server that hosts the site. Generic TLDs can also select a Geographic Target in the Webmaster Tools console.

I think it's likely that your site isn't ranking as well in the US simply due to the increased competition in that market.

They also consider backlinks. If you have backlinks from a bunch of sites in that country you will rank as well.

you don't rank anywhere ? this is not due to server changes this is due to you seo technic... or you keyword is the most competitive in the world and it is a one keyword word !

I do rank but I cannot get google to recognize the fact that we are no longer located in the country we originally had our site hosted. Big mistake by us. We should've had it in the US from the beginning. Maybe our keywords are competitive too but the change should've been recognized and it hasn't.

Actually I was on a server in Canada and still get great ranking from Canada but we don't ship to Canada. We looking under Canada pages and our site is right there.
We did a geo target but it's still not helping. We may change to a new domain on the US server.
