Many same anchor text links in internal link structure. Overkill?

Hey guys,

I'd like your opinion on my current setup.

I have a main navigation which links to several "brand widgets", the brand widgets then link to all of the "model widgets" within that particular brand.

The "model widgets" pages then link out to tens of thousands of "download widgets". Often, the "download widgets" can belong to multiple "model widgets" and so on the "download widget" pages, I link back to all of the "model widgets" that it belongs to.

Essentially tens of thousands of pages, all indexed, all linking to these "model widgets" pages with the same anchor text. This is done with php, not manually, as it's user generated content.

Could this be problematic? Can you suggest a better setup?

Many thanks,

Paul

Do you need that many for visitors to find your content?

Do these add value to internal navigation?

If anything other than "yes" can be answered then yeah, overkill.

The reason behind the links is this;

Our download pages do amazingly well as landing pages. People search for "Green Model Widget" and we're number 1 for nearly everything we have a widget for. And so we have a list of compatible models that then take them back to the main gallery for that particular "model widget".

I could always nofollow the links. But my question is, from an SEO stand point, could it do more harm than good.

"we're number 1 for nearly everything we have a widget for"

Why change anything if that is the case? Or have I missed something?

We're having some recent problems with indexing and ranking of new pages.
