Anyway, I have an old site about preserving rare widgets, with about 25 pages, most of them focused on one particular type of widget. There is no single page just about the general subject of widgets, but because of the nature of the site, the word "widget" probably appears at least once on every page.
What I've noticed is that the site gets a lot of traffic from Google for various long-tail searches containing the word "widget", even though in many cases the content on the page isn't a good match to the search phrase.
This has given me the idea that in Google's eyes the word "widget" is a "sitewide keyword" for my site.
I know that keywords are usually thought of as pertaining to a single page. But in this case I think that Google has assigned a keyword to the entire site. Does this make sense?
Thank you
