many thanks

Hello wickedtickles, and welcome to the forum.

Are you asking about the actul "Cached" urls -- the ones that show in the search results as a link next to "Similar pages"? Or do you mean the number of indexed pages, as show by a site: operator query?

Does it really happen that Google caches the same page once with .co.uk and once more with .com? I have always had only one bot crawl from Google and that has always been from Mountain View!

I have no idea!, I would have thought being a .co.uk site, google .co.uk would have cached, however i have products that have been cached on google.com and can be found ranking very high on specific product title, however switch to google.co.uk and that same page isnt even cached, not ranked ! i dont understand

Is the site hosted in the UK?

That could be an issue. Google would see your website as a US website since it is hosted in an American server.

Wonder which engineer in Google came up with this rather dumb idea, but that is how it works, as far as I know.

To add further, I am not sure if .co.uk on your domain name would be given its due..Ever since websites like del.icio.us came up, the TLD has become more of convenience rather than pertaining to any particular geography..

The US hosting will be a big cause of problems for you because Google won't be clear which you are. A lot of firms buy up all domain names relating to their company so even though they have the UK domain they may be USA based.

If you're saying that some pages are cached I'm guessing it was either originally on a UK server or some other event has happened.

You do get a lot more weight being hosted in the country of origin so I would consider a transfer to a UK server anyway.

Country Code Top Level Domains (ccTLD) are always considered to have a geo-location in the indicated country regardless of any other factors by all of the major search engines. That's why, for example, you can't change the Geographic Target in the Webmaster Tools console on ccTLDs.
