I have set up google to alert me for a key word. Whenever I create a new post in my blog, within a few hours i get an email linking to my blog page and the relevent post where the keyword is located. This is great.

However I have noticed that when I create a new "page" in my blog (im using my own hosted wordpress site), there is no alert sent to me.

Does Google only pic up "posts"? Or is this a setting in wordpress.

I can figure it out

Do these new pages end up in the RSS feed?

Tedster is right..Pages normally do not add up to the RSS feed. And Google only alerts you when the RSS feed has an update..

Not true anymore. Google Blog Search no longer only looks at RSS feeds.

Jeremy from Google confirmed [groups.google.com] it and it has caused major issues for some.

However, Google does use feeds to discover the urls for new posts. They just try to index the full text now, rather than only a short feed, as I understand it. The problems with that switch may be related, but they may also be a side issue.

Essentially I'm wondering what you offer Google so they can discover the urls for your new pages? Are those pages linked from somewhere on your site, or linked from other sites?
