Does the Canonical Tag Help Google with Dynamic URLs

The recent Canonical Tag is just Great as far as eradicating the duplicate content on the web is concerned!

But does this help in how google sees the dynamic urls ?

With a not so adequate knowledge about how google sees the Dynamic URLs as not so google friendly, I was looking for all the information that is available for changing the dynamic URLs to the Static ones.

I am not sure if this tag saves all the research that I was about to do starting from the .htaccess files to the MOD rewrites for the php applications. OR is this tag really a substitute for that , Anyone - Any comments on that would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Arun

Welcome to the forums, proxima.

Yes, the canoncial tag should also help with dynamic url problems - as long as you can program the correct variation of the url to be inserted into the tag.

However, I would still suggest using the 301 redirect on your server whenever possible. It's a sure thing, and the canonical tag is too new to be 100% certain of how it will work in every case.

Looks to me like the Google advice from a few months ago to "use dynamic URLs" was preparing the way for the release of this tag.

"use dynamic URLs" + Canonical Tag + "use Tagged Facts in the Description" = formula for better classification of page ?
