Is it possible to rank above Google Finance results?

Conduct a search for company 'ABC' and the first result is one from Google Finance for the NYSE listing of a company US 'ABC'. The UK company (ABC) is ranked below all the usual Google Finance information and graphs.

Is there a way to 'force' the Google Finance result down so the UK company with the same initials ranks ahead?

That's most likely a Universal Search result - it's blended into the SERP but not placed there by the organic algorithm. Sometimes the Universal Search algo will determine to move the result down (often to #4) for that particular query, but you cannot "outrank" it through your own effort.

There's a finance result that I monitor, and I prefer to check it out on Google Finance because I like their interface. Usually, the first result is a combined Universal listing (including Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, CNN, and Reuters), with a graph that links to the Google Finance page... and that's how I reach the page.

But that result is not always on top, nor is it always returned. Sometimes, I notice, Google will drop the result down, even off the first page, and I have to go hunting for it.

Algorithmically, the Google Finance page by itself is returned in addition to the Universal result. It's currently on the third page.
