Is there a 'Network Unreachable" bug in Google WMT?

Im getting Network unreachable error in google wmt from 29 jan , i upgraded my server, purchased separate servers for all sites but stilll i can see lot of network unreachable errors in google wmt

is thee any one else getting this eror or its only me,

if its only me will u plz sugggest what step should i take now as sites hosted on different server but still this problem

ANd i want to how many unreachable urls error in google wmt for how many days is ok , and what is the limit after which google will penalize me?

This can be one of the most inscrutable error messages in Webmaster Tools. To troubleshoot, I'd suggest you first verify your .htaccess file and your dns settings, and possibly try visiting your site with a googlebot user-agent.

But more important, look at your server logs and see what googlebot's recent experience has been. If you're still seeing 200 OK responses, then indexing is still happening.

Sometimes these "Network Unreachable" errors show up and clear up on a nearly random basas - but that does seem like a long time for you.

We are having the same problem with all 3 of our sites. Checked log and are getting normal behavior there including 200 response codes on files that showed as network unreachable errors.

Kenj have u checked ur server load, is it ok

and from which date u r getting this error and how many urls at daily basis are giving this error.

I just received a update from my ISP. My 3 sites are each on a different server. No server load problems based upon the ISP. We are getting 0-4 per day per site since sometime late January (not sure since I assumed it would resolve itself). It appears to have gotten worse since mid February.

My ISP provided this possibility. "Many Internet service providers including us are seeing signs that google may have network congestion on their end. People will start to send mail from gmail. It will open a connection but not send the mail. This results in a timeout."

One person reported than he had the same issue with the "network unreachable" error. He state that his robots.txt was not readable. Not our problem.

Look at [webmasterworld.com...] if you are getting all or a lot of errors or made changes recently.

I couldn't find anything interesting in the error log either.

I am going to wait and see.

same is the case with me in the end of jan there were urls and i ignore them but now in mid feb they are increased upto 30 urls per day

The site which have more indexed pages giving more urls error

lets see what tedster says about this issue

and wait for some other webmasters to comment if they have this issue.

I get this error from time to time and I am at one of the best colo's in the country with some of the best server management people in the business on some of the best equipment around.

Its not you, its google or something inbetween you and google.

A good many times this comes from a server reboot, normal updtaes and the server reboots. If the bot is hitting the server at that time then you get the reports.

IT sends me an email everytime they reboot the servers as I kept asking them about this myself and we traced it down to the server being rebooted afer an update.

We rebooted the serves over the weekend and now have unreachable error in webmasters tools section for that day the servers were rebooted.
I believe this is the root of your error reports

That would make sense, our security firm does updates/reboots all of the time to our server.
