Hi,

I have a friend who has a PR of 4 and just has a few links of 4 ( 2 or 3 max )

I have a PR of 3 with about 3 links of 5 and over 10 links of 4, why is that ?

Thank you,

tedster

According to the original Page Rank formula, the amount of PR that gets voted to another page depends on how many links are on the page that publishes the link. If it has 10 links, then the PR vote gets split 10 ways. If it holds 80 links, then it gets split 80 ways.

Also note that the real PR value that Google uses for calculations is not toolbar PR. It is actually a continual scale, and not just a number from 0 to 10. So there is such a thing as a low PR 4 and a high PR 4 - and they are VERY different in power because the scale is not linear, but more like a logarithm scale.

Also note that Google has changed the way the formula works, they can and do stop certain links from passing any PR at all if they want to.

And finally, be sure you are looking at the PR of the page that has the link and not just hte Pr of the Home Page for the website.
