I'm getting urls showing up in G with &usg=[long alpha-numeric paramter] on the end of them for one of my sites.

It's creating duplicate urls for the same content which poses a potential problem.

Anyone know why this is happening.

Thanks.

I always 301 redirect to strip off all parameter strings which are invalid, so I haven't noticed that.

And that's all you need to do. It doesn't matter "why" strange query strings show up, it only matters how your server deals with them. If you 301 redirect to the basic url without the bad query string, then you're in good shape.

Check if you have recently implemented Google Custom 404 scripts. Its usually from this area.
