Hi,
one of a sub page of my site got quoted and linked from one of the largest german's newspaper website..... this may affect my google ranking positively.

But will this effect benefit only the linked sub page ? Or the overall site in particular the frontpage ?

Thanks,
Brakkar

Page Rank flows through links, it doesn't stop with one hop. So if your subpage links to your home page, then some of the PR that comes in through that external backlink also gets circulated to the home page.

It's maybe abit on the grey side, but you might want to consider 301-ing it to your mainpage after a few months.

I really wouldn't 301 it at any stage- 'cool URLs don't change'. You are being blatantly manipulative using a technique that is known to be abused- and one that often goes pear-shaped even when done for the right reasons.

The extra 'juice' will get passed on to pages that the 'landing' page then links to. Just make sure its a well-crafted page, and (following a discussion elsewhere on this board) you may want to

rel=nofollow
any links that aren't your top priority- which may be everything but your homepage.
