Home page text not searchable in Google

My home page no longer shows up through a google search. Other pages in the subdirectory do show up easily. This has been going on for about three to four weeks now, so time hasn't fixed it. I can copy and paste text (with quotes) from my subpages into google and those pages come up first (because the text is original). However, when I do the same with my home page, Google does not find anything. I do not have this problem with the other search engines.

I have no penalty (as fas I know). My home page has a PR of 1, which may be low, but the subpages all have a PR of 0. Google can only find the home page if I type "example.com". That is fairly useless. My server has experienced no errors or down time. I can't for the life of me figure this one out. It's a fairly significant issue since there has been a large drop-off in new client contact since this occurred. Thanks, all.

The first two things I'd do:

1) run the home page source code through a validator - look for flat out errors that may have crept in.

2) access the page using Firefox with the LiveHTTPHeaders add-on and the UserAgentSwitcher add-on, imitating googlebot

Also a good idea to go through error reports in your WebmasterTools account.
