Google Business Map Inclusion Issues

I recently updated a client's Google Business Listing, and was sure to include target categories. When someone does a search for MyCity Blue Widget or MyCity Green Widget, it began to show up along with other local businesses.

Here is the problem: It shows up with other businesses for MyCity Widget (singular), but when someone searches for MyCity Widgets (plural and most often searched), only one business in town appears next to the map, and no others. There is also no "More Results" link.

MyCity Widgets appears as a category/keyword in the Google Business listing, and there are at least a dozen other businesses in town that would qualify for this. So why has Google excluded all but one site in it's local business listings?

Local Search data is still not happening very well, in my opinion. The singular/plural issue you describe is just one piece of a still muddy picture, although small steps are being taken. As an end user, I pretty much ignore the business listings that are placed by the map except for auxiliary input, because too much important data is missing and too much that is included is not useful.
