I did search and couldn't find the answer to this hope its not a common question..

does anyone have any experience of moving hosting for a UK site to Ireland and how it would rank in .co.uk?

we have a largish .com currently hosted in the UK ranking well there, but not so well in the US.

The company are expanding into the US and are now considering a US specific site hosted in the US and a UK version of it hosted on the new Amazon cloud framework in Ireland, which we think is in Dublin.

anyone got any info or comments as to whether moving from the UK to Ireland would adversely affect UK rankings?

we dont want to risk drops, even for a few weeks if we can help it.

Shouldn't have much effect on international rankings, but will lose out on "UK only" searches in the UK.

For a .com, other factors probably matter more, such as content and any 'local' features, including postcodes, phone numbers and meta tags.

If you are looking to expand in the US, then you'd be wise to take advantage of the much lower hosting costs over there.

Whatever you decide, be careful of duplicate content issues if you maintain more than one (similar) site.
