Last year, I opened up a new section on the site with products. Each product has its page:
products/manufacturer/product-name/index.php
and to make things easier to organize, I decided to put the images in the same folder as the product page:
products/manufacturer/product-name/manufacturer-product-name-1.jpg
products/manufacturer/product-name/manufacturer-product-name-2.jpg
products/manufacturer/product-name/manufacturer-product-name-3.jpg
so the images aren't stored all in one folder, like I did with the news section.
I'm trying to understand why only 2% of the images are getting indexed. Yes, I've used the alt tag, title tag, keywords, every enhancement in the book.
Is Google having a hard time indexing the images because they're scattered around different folders? Is that a problem? Should I move the images to the /images/ folder?
I work with sites that don't have dedicated image folders and they still get indexed pretty well. Still it might be worth a test to see if this is a factor or not.
