HTML SiteMap - What's the Best Way To Link To It?

Hi, I have just implemented a html sitemap for my site - about time I think!

Anyway I am wondering about the best place to place it. My initial thought was to include it on the footer of each page, now I am not so sure, it does not seem smart to include a load of links on the bottom of each page.

I am now more inclined to include it in my category navigation - on the right hand nav bar - any opinions on the best place to place a sitemap?

Our main site has site wide footer links as follows:

Sitemap - TOS - Privacy - Contact Us

They are also excluded in the robots.txt file

I am not aware of any problems having come from this set up...
