Indexing Delay? Seems odd.

I launched a site a week ago and gave it the obligatory DIGG along with a couple of links from other sites just to get it indexed by G. Normally I'm in within 24 hours or so with this method, sometimes quicker, but a week later and still no sign using the site: operator.

Thought maybe it was just bad luck, but I was chatting to someone else today who has been waiting 2 and 3 weeks respectively on 2 sites he launched in different sectors. Anyone aware of a delay or something going on? Or is it just coincidence?

Hi Simsi,

I've had ongoing issue with Google's sitemaps, indexing and strange 404's for over 2 months.

My SEO strategies are still the same but sites that were just starting to rank after optimization have disappeared and ranking has been terrible.

I've trying for the last month to find info and this forum seems to be loaded with relevant information.

At least my boss knows it's not my methods that suck.

Good luck with your problems.

Interestingly, today it picked up one of the secondary pages, although not the home page. This is odd because the only way it could have got to the secondary page was through the homepage.
