Large page doesn't have a Google cache (it's a list of links)

It is a very large page with long list of popular links within the site. Is it the large page size that causes there to be no cache version? Wanted to check the cache version to see if google had indexed the entire content of the page, as have used this in the past to find out if they got the whole thing, but no cache link alongside the - similar pages & note this - links.

Any ideas on this appreciated.

Pages that are essentially link lists are getting the back seat in Google these days with graybar PR. Not caching them may be part of the "demotion". Just a guess - I checked a url of this time that I'm familiar with and it does still show a cached page.

However, the page I checked only has a total of 73 links, including navigation. I've seen Google balk at pages with hundreds of links. Is your page in that area?

It's also worth noting that the presence or absence of a cached page is not proof of whether the content is indexed. The cached pages and the index are stored in different parts of the Google File System.

The page in question is far larger than 73 links fo sure, and has worked well in the past. We have other directory type pages with lists of links that are also much larger with hundreds of links and they are still showing cache dates.

The page in question is in the index but just not showing cache. The only difference between this page and the other directory listings pages, is that this one is created dynamically and content changes constantly, while the others are static and updated only once per month.

just checking again and the large page in question still in the index but no cache verison yet. Any thought on this being a dynamic page that changes everytime someone hits it?

Also, notice that on two sites have seen a drop in overall pages indexed at the most granular level and wondering if google cuts back on the number of pages in the index over the holiday season, or if it is more likely something on our end causing these pages to fall out? It is interesing that one of the sites has a sitemap and the other has typically been fully spidered by google crawling the pages without sitemap, but both of the sites seem to be seeing proportionate dropping of pages in index.

Any thoughts appreciated.
