What's More Important - High PR or Top SERP ?

i am just curious about both this PR and SERP relation, for a new site whats more important ? high PR or Top SERP as far as i know ( very less) rather think , PR got nothing to do with SERP. Is It ?

High SERP means high traffic higher money through ads.

Then What with this PR Fad anyways can someone explain the relation if any exist between the two ?

PR is just one of many, many factors that affect ranking - you're absolutely right that chasing PR itself is chasing the wrong target. Even chasing ranking itself can be a worng target. Targeted traffic is the goal, and good rankings on frequently searched terms is a means to that goal.
