How often does Google's crawler come around?

I'm starting to put some preview content on my site now, but I've still got a coming soon page up for most of it. When visitors key in the url address, they go to the home page and it basically reads "Coming Soon, My Site. In the meantime, here is some preview content." And that's what the Google snippits say.

But I'm almost finished with it, and in a short time, it's no longer going to be "Coming Soon."

And my question is, how often does the crawler come around, or how often does Google update the snippits? Or is there a way to send updates to Google.

There is no one answer for "how often". Google has a dedicated crawl team and their job is to set a crawling budget that makes sense both for their resources and for the wide variations in websites. As long as there are a few links pointing to a new site, you'll probably get spidered within a week or two.

Snippet generation is another Google team and another automated process - in fact snippets will vary with the query terms. In general, you'll see the snippet reflect your changed content within a day or two of the actual spidering, and sometimes much faster.
