Hi ,

I have been analysing my google webmaster tools - top search queries.

it goes that for the top 20 terms you are given a percentage of the queries for that term i.e

# 1 3% Query (widgets) Rank (5)

my question is how can you increase your impressions ? as it doesnt give actual numbers you have no idea how many results pages you are in .

as i have a new site , i am more concerned about getting the result s now as apposed to the traffic.

Is it just a matter of patience ?

If you add up all the % you get close 100% but how many impressions does that equal ?

the reason i ask is that i dont think im in 100% of all results and therefore for a term which has 12000 queries a month i get 1% of all impression (which would be maybe 500 impressions total a month)

I hope you understand my question ....

regards

Malcolm

Improving impressions is essentially the same as improving rankings across many searches. You are working in the dark a bit if you make this your target, as you've noticed. Even with a new site, I'd still focus on search traffic as the metric to work with.
