We are from Brazil and we work for a USA company. We have a website that works with the focus in the USA market. When i type its main keyword in google.com and google.com.br here in brazil, the website appears in the 4-6 position in the SERPS, but when i access from united states i cannot see the site in the results for that main keyword. The domain is hosted in an USA server and i used Google Webmaster Tools to set the geographic target to United States in the option Country/Region and everything is configured ok. I used too the metatags like:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us" />
<meta name="country" content="USA" />

Why is that happening? Can i try to do a different thing to fix that?

Please if someone knows something that can help, please send a message!

thank you!

How long ago did you use "set geographic target"? That can take a while to have an effect. You can see various reports about the feature via a site search for "set geographic target" [google.com].

The other thing that might be worth looking into is whether Google has "mislocated" your site. You could try for instance "páginas do Brasil" at google.com.br to see if your site is included.

I think the competition is much tougher in the US than is is for Brazil. I see this all the time with different websites I work we rank for google.ca on 1st page but 5th page in google.com us based.

Are the links your generating for the site from the US as well?
