Sitemaps Bug in Google WMT? showing 0 URLs indexed

In Google Webmaster Tools, I'm seeing 0 Total URLs Indexed for sites that have a Sitemap Index file. Sites with a regular Sitemap file are showing normal counts. Is anyone else seeing this in their accounts? I'm hoping this is a bug.

I'm seeing the same on mine this morning, i do have a warning on one of my files telling me i've got a redirect in the first sitemap. checking the site map this "redirect" doesn't exist.

I've seen this happen once before so I'm hoping its just buggy at the moment. Rankings and pages totals haven't changed for me but its very unnerving to see this first thing, i'm watching VERY carefully.

I am seeing the same thing. Today my home page disappeared from the SERPS. Site: still shows the correct amount of indexed pages – weird! No messages in my WMT, hope its not a penalty.

Hi guys,

I'm hoping someone can help me out with this. We submitted our sitemaps ages ago in GWT and have never had an issue with them before. But yesterday, I logged in saying our sitemaps (we have 4) had 0 pages in it.

On our end, everything is still listed in the sitemaps as they should be. We haven't played around with them or anything. I reviewed their format using sitemaps.org, and they're written properly.

I tried resubmitting the sitemaps, and one is out of "pending" status and is listed as "OK." But this page still says:

Status: OK
Total URLs in Sitemap: 0
Indexed URLs in Sitemap: -

I have no clue what to do! =/

Is anyone else getting wierd results in their WMT account? I have about 50 site maps, and every one is showing "pending" status, with zero files from sitemaps.

I *think* everything else is okay...

I am monitoring about four quality sites and they all are having the same issue. Huge drop in traffic in some of them are registered. I am wondering if google knows about this because it has been like this already several days.

There's a post by JohnMu of Google in a Google Groups "Sitemap Pending" discussion [groups.google.com] indicating that Google is aware of the situation:

This is currently a known issue, the team here is working on resolving it as quickly as possible. Generally speaking, it's normal for some sites to take a while before the "pending" status disappears. At the moment however, it looks like this is taking a bit longer than usual.

If the "pending" status for your site has been showing for a while now, I wouldn't worry too much about it for now. It's not something on your site, or anything that you need to resolve on your end.

I first wanted to say thank you to Robert for posting the thread from Google Groups.

I am still seeing the situation with the status listed as pending and the Total URLs: 0.

Has anyone seen a change in either of these?

As a precaution i reduced the size of my files from 40000 urls's to 10000 urls as research from a VERY old thread on the site map groups mentioned that google could have timed out on pulling the pages, any way i don't think that was the reason for my files being reindexed but i'm going to keep the files a lot smaller from now on any way.

I've seen some change... a few sitemaps that were *pending* are now showing normal, but others have not updated. A mixed bag.

This appears to be fixed for me now with no changes to my sitemaps. From the comments above it seems like this is just a temporary Google issue. Thanks to everyone who helped me preserve my sanity.

Is your indexed URLs using the site command 0? Or are you just seeing 0 indexed URLs in the tool?
