There have been no new news stories added to news.google.com from any of the included news websites.
Earlier i noticed it once and it did result in some google updates...

Anomalies occasionally occur, they aren't that unusual. Though I do doubt that any slowdown associated with Google News would be a harbinger for any other Google updates, especially these days with Google more or less in continual flux.
