I see most results showing usually at least 1000 times the results now than 2001.

Interesting timeline of Google's history reveals that AdWords was released in 2000, but no AdWords are displayed :( Perhaps it is due to the fact they were pay per display back then!

I just love the idea of searching for stuff that now would be fantastic to be high in the serps for, but back then meant were nothing really - terms like ipod or torrent. Now if only Google would do a "what search results will be in 2021"...

Heh, fun looking at what Google threw up then for the keyword SEO. Perhaps my granny could have achieved a first page rank for it.

The competition seems to be really less back then, and the title tags, descriptions of the results look too simple. Most of the pages in the old archive have almost no content on them at all, which is interesting. SEO has definitely changed the way search engines display data over the years.

Still #1 :-)

oh darn a tin foil hat just fell on me... Hmm wouldn't it be "funny" if google used the searches on that index and its promotion to determine which keywords to watch carefully and identify umm certain players without a doubt? NAH... Nevermind me...

That is really cool. I was able to find my personal website, webcams and all... before I took it all down when I became famous.

Yeah, that is really quite fun, I remember some of the searches I was doing around that time and it is nice to see those SERPs once again!

One thing that does confuse me is that a search of stuff on my personal site threw up a page that I created in response to getting dumped by a girl in mid February 2001 - so it looks like the index is a touch newer than they claim! (If only by a couple of weeks)

Hmm, back in 2001 I came up second for my primary search term, and seven years later, I'm #1. I guess that's progress.
