WMT says some urls are 404 but they're NOT

Using Goog WMT I look at the 404 error report. I verify whether or not the URL's do actually generate a 404 response, but they don't. The pages are truly there. Anybody else getting this false 404 response? :)

Have you checked your server logs to see what happens when googlebot requests those urls? The most deceptive server hacks include scripts that give different results to googlebot.

If you're confident the status code is correct for the URLs that Google's requesting, then it's likely just more [webmasterworld.com] WMT [webmasterworld.com] glitching [webmasterworld.com] - erroneous 404s have been happening for a while.

It's a shame, since people quite reasonably assume WMT data to be both accurate and authoritative.

We've seen quite a bit of this as well.

Google has confirmed it is a glitch at Google Groups a few days ago. It should be fixed soon.
