Keep this simple. I am new to even the existence of PR.

I have a single page website, and when I check the pagerank on multiple websites (I type "check pagerank" into google) the Pagerank comes back as 0. Recently after reading up on this site, I downloaded google toolbar, and when I browse on over to mysite, the PR bar says 2/10. I am very confused, I feel like I have to know what it is. Thanks in advance for the insight.

Hello islancoli, and welcome to the forums.

Google is the only source of PR information. Even website utilities need to get their data from Google's PR servers. So it looks like you've got PR2.

It might happen that the websites you were using overloaded the Google servers and couldn't get a response, so they just said "zero". And sometimes Google spoofs incorrect PR data to people that it feels are abusing their service. So trust the Google toolbar - unless you are making lots of automated requests.

Also note that there are two kinds of apparrent PR0. One has a gray bar on the toolbar, and that really means "no data available". You get that a lot for pages that were published after the most recent toolbar update which happens only about 4 times a year.

The second kind of PR0 has a white bar - and that means "more than zero and less than one".

If you want to read up more about PR, there are some references in the Hot Topics section [webmasterworld.com], which is always pinned to the top of this forum's index page.
