How long for a new domain to show up in Google?

Hi there,

3 weeks ago I created a new website with a new domain name etc ( brand new ) I still don't see it on google anywhere is it normal ? How long does it usually take ?

Because it seems to me that if your website is not really optimized for google you show up fairly quickly but if it is it takes longer ? anyone experienced this before ?

Are there any links pointing to your site from pages on other sites that are in the index?

Another question, to clarify an important point...

Do you mean that it's not in the index, or simply that it's not ranking?

Several ways of checking whether it's in the index...

- do a site:domain search

- search for a unique string of 4 or 5 words which appears on your home page. Put the string in quotes when you do the search, so you're searching for the exact text string.

No links pointing but got a sitemap that I submitted to google webmaster tools and the issue is that it is not indexed yet !

You need links from indexed sites. Good links from well regarded sites will help the most.
