Hi,

I just changed my website and my web address doesn't have the /en anymore

www.mysite.com/p100/en/mysite.com but the new address is www.mysite.com/p100/mysite.com

I have put in place an automatic 301 redirect but I am wondering if I should delete the /en web address with google webmaster tools or if it is going to be removed automatically in the future.

Thank you,

Robert Charlton

If you've redirected the version with/en, then don't use the removal tool. The redirect will take care of it... the removal tool may complicate things.

The redirect ensures that people who still see the old URL can click it and still get to your site. Why cut your traffic by removing the old URL from public view? Leave it and let Google take care of it in their own time.

The removal tool requires the URL to return 404. So, you would have to remove your redirect first, before removal. There's a danger that you could remove the new URL should that return 404 and the redirect still be in place when Google checks the URLs. It's not worth the time/hassle/risk/bother. Let Google fix it automatically.

Read those replies again - they agree. Both say don't use the removal tool, and I agree.
