Are my pages being indexed properly - I can't find them for any queries?

Hello,

I'm inexperienced with SEO and need some help. I'm having some problems with my site being indexed in google.

When I do a search for site:example.org.uk my pages come up as expected (apart from the fact that my meta descriptions are wrong - Googlebot hasn't spidered my pages since I changed them). But since my posts appear when I search site:example.org.uk I assume they are being indexed.

But the real worry is, when I search for my post in google by either searching for the title in quotes, or the meta description in quotes, I can't find it at all.

Any ideas why? Any help appreciated.

Have you set up a Webmaster Tools account with Google? Often there are helpful messages in there.

Also, we have a treasure trove of information in the Hot Topics area [webmasterworld.com], which is always pinned to the top of this forum's index page. you should find some intense education there in the "ways of Google".

Hi Tedster,

Thanks for your reply. I'll take a look at that area. I have set up webmaster tools and it doesn't report any errors. Very strange.
