I have a Myspace Account that I use for self promotion. This is a requirement due to my sponsorship and promotion purposes. I created my page with Thomas Myspace Editor v4, it has some pictures and videos embedded into it and some font/bullet mark-up. My page has always come up in top 3 searches under Google by full name, but it's not appearing at all now and it's been like this for 2+ weeks! Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Hello MyspaceHelp, and welcome to the forums.

This sounds like a tough one to me. Have you checked to see if your page is indexed at all? What happens if you type the url into the Google search box?

How do I do that? Just type the full https web address? It doesn't end with .com though. However, many people's professional myspace pages do come up within the first 3 searches under their name or company/organization name. Mine used to as well, but not longer is. Could Google have blocked it for some reason? Or is it bad CSS/HTML, etc?

Thanks

Yes - or copy/paste it from your browser's address bar.

Or is it bad CSS/HTML

Not likely - especially not the CSS. A serious HTML error, such as a missing "<" or bad nesting of quotes can cause a part of the page not to be indexed -- or in rare cases the whole thing. But if you're using an editor, that's not likely.

Hi Tedster,
I enetered my url as a www. and also as an [www....] in google search. It came up under the www but not the [....] The http:// only pulled the site up in the website toolbar when pasted into it.

When google did pull the site by option A, it reads my name, site and the this under it: "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player." Could this be causing issues and how do I fix that?

Is this more of an issue with Google? I dont understand why my site isn't coming up under my name when searched in Google. Also, my site is done in light grey font. Could that be an issue? It's on black tables.

There's your answer - your current page content depends on javascript being enabled, and googlebot does not exectue javascript. So, your current page has no TEXT content that Google can index. You need some - and apparently you used to have some.

How do I turn that (JavaScript) one? Or how do I fix this issue? Do you have any recommendations? Thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciate it.

Try taking the custom theme off it for a while and see if that pops you back in. It's possible that something in that theme, or some element you added to your page, has messed up your search engine listing.

netmeg - The original theme was fine because my page showed up in Google searches for over 6 months. The original theme was done on Thomas Myspace Editor v4, where I uploaded a picture for the background and used black contact tables with grey font in HTML format. I also added bullets and some HTML for underlines and italicized text. Recently, I added a couple of videos to my page and I also have a slide show (that hasn't been a problem). Bu maybe the videos are? They're embedded and uploaded from webshots.com, where I have them stored. Is there a way that I can go through my HTML and find out where this JavaScript issue is?

If this was anything but a Myspace site I'd suggest using the W3C Validator for HTML [validator.w3.org]. You still may want to try that, but the results may be overwhelming, especially if you are not very informed about HTML code.

You also may want to install a text-only browser such as Lynx - that can give you a better idea of what googlebot cab read on your page. There are also some public available "spider simulator" tools online that you can use.
