Separate keywords vs. keyword phrases in Google?

I am revising my ecommerce site and using descriptive keywords in the product name, which are also used in the URL for the page. Let's say there are two main terms used to describe my product, term1 and term2. Both terms are popular according to Google keyword suggestion tool, with term1 being about twice as popular as term2 on its own.

I would naturally like to be able to capture traffic for both terms in searches, so I have added term1+term2 to the end of every product title. However, I see in Google's keyword suggestion tool that it shows term1+term2 as a separate phrase which ranks far lower that each term separately. My question is if I add both terms to the end of every product title and page url will they come up for searches of either term used separately or only searches using the phrase? In other words, is it better to pick one horse and ride it? Thanks for any advice!

Term1, Term2
Term, 1, 2
Term1, 2

Any is acceptable.
Just make sure to include both terms in your meta description and or page content.

There won't be any comma separating them...the two terms will be back to back. That's why I'm concerned with them being read as one phrase rather than two unique terms

I have added term1+term2 to the end of every product title

Doing that for EVERY product title may not be the best idea. It's the kind of action that can trip an over-optimization problem for you. You can't get every page to rank for the same search anyway - it's better to create an information architecture that focuses on specific pages, IMO.

Yes I've decided to go with ProductTitle+Term1 for one set of products and ProductTitle+Term2 for another set of products. That will require duplicating all the products but I don't see a better way around it
