Canonical URL Confusion on a Yahoo Store

Hi there,

Ok, this is really confusing me.

We are a Yahoo store & recently took a minor slide in Google for a few of our top keywords. We've been adding new content almost daily and working on the site like crazy over the past few weeks and I am not seeing any improvement although we are getting crawled by Google on a regular basis.

I was just reading some threads about canonical urls in a few different places and I am wondering if this is our problem.

Google is currently now showing all results for us now as ourdomainname.com and no longer as www.ourdomainname.com. I read the Domain Redirect Setting article on the Yahoo Small Business blog:

[help.yahoo.com...]

I am not sure if this is our problem and also not sure if I would make things worse by making this change. I am also not even sure what I should redirect to. Since Google is now showing only results from ourdomainname.com, would this be the best url to redirect to?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks-
Pam

The link you offered does not address the with-www and no-www confusion, Pamela, although it does address another kind of canonical problem that involves more than one domain name. I'm not hands-on with any Yahoo Store right now, but when last I looked they offered no technical fix for the www kind of canonical problem.

Maybe someone with current information will pop into this thread. In the mean time, you can choose one preferred form in your Google Webmaster Tools account, but that option on it's own comes in a weak second to having it fixed on your server.
