Has Google lifted the penalty on Squidoo?

I have found some sites that have indicated that, about a year ago, Squiddo pages were penalized and there was a severe drop in position in the SERPS. The reason was that Squidoo was having a spam problem. I believe that has been cleaned up now. Does anyone know if the penalty has been lifted?

Essentially, the site became a spamming tool. Squidoo subsequently implemented some rules, social controls, filters, and reporting features. I don't know about its current status on Google.

What penalty? ;)

it's been working fine for about 7 months now.
But it still might be considered a "penalty" vs it's super-sized authority it had when it first came out.

No more throwing up a page and ranking #1 within 24 hours like before...
