How do we achieve high rankings in google news? also, any idea how google news indexes new web pages?

Are you actually in it? I mean did you apply and then get a reply advising you would be added in a few weeks?

If not, then you need to apply first.

If you are in then it depends on a lot of factors. The number of stories your site produces, their quality (length etc), your location, subject and the general weight your site carries.

Worth noting it can also fluctuate a great deal and new sites usually get a kick up for a few months and then go down.

I wonder if Google buys DIGG will we see some of that system on Google News...I hope not or a gaming war will ensue, especially with such big publishers involved.

Not sure but one site I've often seen at the top or near it is a frequent updater. Publishing frequency made be a major signal.
