Move old blog post without 301, risks?

Hello,

I have a website with hundreds of blogposts.
They are all posted in one category and this category is not indexed by google (on purpose). The blogposts self ARE indexed in Google, but i now want to categorize those blogposts into new categories. There are literally hundreds of posts, so i rather not want to redirect them with a 301 to there new location.

There are not many visitors on the blogposts, but there are on the frontpae and i rank well for a few keywords. I don't want to lose those rankings of the frontpage of course, but i'm afraid that moving all the blogposts to the new categories will not have a good effect at first on Google (all 404's, but later Google will spider the blogposts again of course in the new categories and as seperated posts)....

Any tips, advice would be really appreciated in this situation!

I have done things similar to this without any penalties but all cases are different. I guess some domains are trusted more than others by Google. If I were you I will leave the existing posts alone but going forward I will categorize the new posts the right way. I don't think having a category makes much of a difference.
