Javascript Versus Nofollow for Affiliate Links

As an ecommerce site we have our own shopping cart..

In addition, we sell products from affiliate sites as well(we list the products on our site and link to affiliates)..

Up to now we used to link to our affiliate using java for the search engines not to follow the links (I see <an ecommerce site> uses java as well)

However, I was wondering if that's still recommended, or if we should do a rel"no=follow on our links..

We know that Google is working on indexing more javascript these days, but I've heard nothing to suggest that this kind of link delivery is no longer recommended to stop PR transfer. I'm pretty sure we'd know if something changed there, since the Javascript approach has been one very common official recommendation.

We have done the Java approach up to now, was just wondering if it's still being used..
