How to increase Google traffic, and what is the best way or technique by which we can increase our traffic on Google search engine.

mahav - The question you ask is very broad, and in a way covers all the topics that this forum and the rest of WebmasterWorld discusses.

Assuming that you have a site that is in the Google index, which Google can easily crawl, I'd say that the best long term approach... and I emphasize "long term"... is to build on topic content that will attract good quality relevant links, and then to promote that content so that people will see it.

You also need to make sure that the phrases your site is targeting are indeed phrases for which people search, but that they're not so competitive that you'll never rank for them.

Building a site up to the point where it will rank for competitive terms can take several years, and a lot of work.

I searched webmasterworld.com, using this search [google.com]...

...and this discussion, which may be helpful, came up as #2....

If your google traffic is down - what are you doing about it?

Site search is a valuable asset to help find material on WebmasterWorld.

If your site has particular technical issues, I would first turn to our Hot Topics area [webmasterworld.com], which is always pinned to the top of this forum's index page. It has good reference threads for a great many Google related issues.

One of the classics in Hot Topics discusses an approach to building in traffic from Google over the course of a year...

Also, I recommend reading in all of the forum libraries which might apply to your site and situation.

Others here may have additional thoughts that might help you. You need to describe, in a general way, the kind of issues you're facing...

Eg, are you ranking well but not getting traffic? Are you not ranking at all? Do you have good backlinks? How old is your site? How old are the links?

All of these kinds of questions will help you get better answers.

You will need a lot of very good and original content. The sort of content people bookmark and content that brings you return visitors. I own a couple of very succesful authority websites. For the best website it took me 7 years to get where I am now ... On the second website I have been working hard on an almost daily basis for about 4 years.
Good content and return visitors will build "Google trust" and this will automatically bring good rankings and traffic. Don't try to cheat Google with tricks for fast page one rankings (like intensive link building and link buying). Google is smarter than you think ...

Interesting to see that you think return visitors bring trust and better ranking. This is what I hoped for.
As seo I'm a newbie and will probably be that forever. nearby all I'
ve learned is comming from WW. But I tried to make visitors coming back by making a site they like. To be honest I'm not sure why we have high ranking (top 3 for most of our important search phrases). But I think we also have more visitors coming back than many other sites.
Yes, it's a niche site. But still I'm very satisfied getting more than 20% coming back, and visitors are adding us to wiki, etc.
Do you think this "high" number or revisitors is helping get our high ranking ?

Do you think this "high" number or revisitors is helping get our high ranking?

Yes, because a high number of revisitors suggests that you've built a good site, one that's good enough that people have linked to it as well. A link is a recommendation, and those links probably have a lot to do with your rankings.
