Google Updates SEO Guidelines - Asks For Feedback

The Google Webmaster Central Blog recently posted a suggestively titled article:

What are your SEO recommendations? [googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com]

So, do they need more traffic over at the 'plex? Apparently not: it refers to their rewrite of their advice for site owners on SEO [google.com], which represented a bit of 'reaching out' to optimisers, compared to the original - which focussed all but entirely on the negative potential of underhand or under-qualified search engine optimisation companies.

The article now notes some of the benefits of search engine optimization, and provides some guidance to site owners who are considering hiring an SEO...We'd like to hear your thoughts and incorporate your feedback if there's important advice that we should add.

They certainly did take the hard edge off that SEO write-up [google.com]. I particularly appreciated this addition:

If you're thinking about hiring an SEO, the earlier the better. A great time to hire is when you're considering a site redesign, or planning to launch a new site.

Interesting writeup, most notably the lack of mentioning any services regarding natural or 'ethical' link building.
